What is the range of e-bikes?

Most e-bike batteries have a range of approx. 40 to 120 kilometres. With a battery capacity of 500 Wh, you can cover approx. 70 to 80 kilometres. This range can vary greatly depending on the battery, riding conditions and the level of assistance you require. The more of it you draw on, the shorter the range. Hilly or mountainous terrain will also reduce the range. So adjust the battery capacity to your individual circumstances. However, the higher the output, the higher the battery weight. If you regularly ride longer distances (e.g. to work), you should make sure you have a high capacity. If you mainly ride in the city, a smaller battery is also a good choice.

Where and how can I charge my e-bike?

You will usually charge your e-bike at home, but there are also public charging stations. Batteries that can be removed can simply be plugged into a socket at your destination – e.g. at work. However, if the battery cannot be removed, you will need a charging facility in the immediate vicinity of the e-bike. You should bear this in mind when buying. It's best to use the chargers provided by the manufacturer. They charge the battery optimally, improving charging times and battery lifespan. The charging time varies from a few hours to over 10 hours (for a full charge), depending on the battery capacity and charging speed. Fast chargers speed up the charging process, but not all E-Bikes support this function. It is also important to fully charge the battery regularly, even if it is not completely discharged.

How do I find out the right frame size for me?

Choosing the right frame size for a bicycle is crucial. The correct height enables ergonomic pedaling with optimal power transfer and a comfortable seating position, while an incorrect frame size can result in pain in the shoulders, hands, or back. Additionally, a frame that is too large or too small can also pose a safety risk because it can impair control of the bike. The ratio of body height to frame height differs depending on the type of E-Bike the optimum frame height for mountain bikes is usually smaller than for other types of E-Bike. How does an e-bike work?

An e-bike is a bicycle with an electric motor that supports a rider's pedalling power. The motor is usually mounted in the middle of the frame (mid-motor) or on the rear wheel. Sensors detect the rider's pedal movements and amplify the pedal force. The higher the assistance level, the stronger the electric assistance. The battery supplies the motor with power. The battery’s capacity is responsible for the range; the more watt hours (Wh), the greater the range (until the next charge).

How fast does an e-bike go?

E-bikes are generally limited to 25 km/h. This means that the electric motor will assist you up to this speed – everything after that depends on the power of your muscles. However, there are what are referred to as S-pedelecs (S for speed) as well, which can assist you up to 45 km/h. However, these bikes are subject to registration and helmet requirements. These bikes are also more expensive and heavier, so it's worth considering carefully beforehand whether you really need these high speeds.
